Abstract

In an era of rapid digital advancement, Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based learning has become an essential requirement, including in the field of religious studies. Ilm al-Rijal is one of the branches within the study of hadith. The conventional learning process in this field renders learning less interactive in meeting the educational demands of the 21st century. However, the use of NotebookLM as an innovative learning medium in Ilm al-Rijal has yet to be fully explored. This study employs a qualitative research design to examine the functions and potential of NotebookLM in supporting the academic learning process in the field of Ilm al-Rijal. The findings indicate that the use of NotebookLM can organise large volumes of information from multiple sources, constructing notes in the form of infographics and presentation slides, as well as producing summaries in the form of key points more clearly. Nevertheless, certain challenges were also encountered, such as NotebookLM having limitations in terms of generating infographics and presentation slides based on uploaded documents, as well as its inability to evaluate the methodological rigour or reliability of a given study. Despite these limitations, NotebookLM continues to offer opportunities for a more engaging learning experience. This study is hoped to provide in-depth insights into how NotebookLM can be effectively utilised to educate and influence the younger generation in the practice of Islamic teachings.

ABSTRAK

Dalam era digital yang semakin berkembang pesat, pembelajaran berasaskan teknologi Artificial Intelligence (AI) menjadi satu keperluan penting, termasuk dalam bidang pengajian agama. Ilm al-Rijal adalah salah satu cabang dalam pengajian hadis. Proses pembelajaran secara konvensional dalam bidang ini menjadikan pembelajaran kurang interaktif bagi keperluan pembelajaran di abad 21 ini. Namun begitu, penggunaan NotebookLM sebagai media pembelajaran inovatif dalam Ilm al-Rijal masih belum diterokai sepenuhnya. Kajian ini menggunakan reka bentuk kualitatif melalui penelitian kepustakaan bagi menilai fungsi dan potensi penggunaan NotebookLM dalam menyokong proses pembelajaran akademik bidang Ilm al-Rijal. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa penggunaan NotebookLM mampu menyusun banyak maklumat daripada pelbagai sumber, membina nota dalam bentuk infografik dan slaid pembentangan, serta menghasilkan rumusan dalam bentuk poin-poin penting dengan lebih jelas. Namun, ada cabaran yang turut dihadapi seperti penggunaan NotebookLM mempunyai had dari sudut penyediaan infografik dan slaid pembentangan berdasarkan dokumen yang dimuat naik serta tidak mampu menilai ketelitian metodologi atau kebolehpercayaan sesuatu kajian. Walaupun demikian, NotebookLM tetap menawarkan peluang untuk pembelajaran yang lebih menyeronokkan. Kajian ini diharapkan dapat memberikan pandangan mendalam tentang bagaimana NotebookLM dapat digunakan secara efektif untuk mendidik dan mempengaruhi generasi muda dalam pengamalan pengajaran pengajian Islam yang lain.
